At Rest

Less-than-lethal force
Manrique, an elderly Mexican immigrant and grandfather, unarmed and never accused of any crime, was beaten to death by two local police officers for attempting to "trot away" when they appeared in a dark alley. They were in plainclothes and drove an unmarked car. The city would eventually pay his family $1M in a wrongful death settlement.
This record exists so that Antonio Manrique, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
