Police had been searching for Antonio Geraldo Rodriguez, who was suspected in the fatal shooting of his 50-year-old girlfriend, Reyna Gonzalez Zamora, at her apartment. Three officers spotted a car matching the description of one driven by Rodriguez outside a convenience store. As the officers approached, Rodriguez opened fire. Three officers were wounded. Officers returned fire, and Rodriguez shot himself in the chest and died.
