Sought in connection with a separate incident, 61-year-old Rosario-Rodriguez fled police contact in his car and then on foot through downtown New Britain. Officers tasered him; he died shortly after. Press reports describe police telling his daughter he died of a heart attack. A subsequent ruling by the medical examiner ascribed his death to a ruptured spleen.
