At Rest

Deadly force
Deputies responded to a 911 call of shots fired in Andrew L. Closson's home. They set up a perimeter, however Closson was able to escape through the back of the house. Lt. Christopher Hoyt, driving to the scene, saw a man hitchhiking on the northbound shoulder of U.S. Highway 53 just north of Gordon. Hoyt turned on lights, exited the other, drew his weapon, and demanded Closson show his hands. Andrew Closson allegedly raised a rifle by his leg, pointing it at the deputy. Hoyt shot three times, killing Closson. Shooting was deemed justified by Douglas County District Attorney Dan Blank.
