Biography
Amir-Mohammad Safari was a 15-year-old student from Iran who lived with his family and helped support them financially. In addition to attending school, he worked as a labourer and street vendor. On 8 January 2026, during protests in Tehran, he was shot with live ammunition by security forces. His family searched for him for several days before identifying his body at Shohada-ye Yaftabad Hospital on 14 January. His funeral was later held in the village of Bon Lar in Mamulan County, Lorestan Province, where relatives and community members mourned his death.
Amir-Mohammad Safari was born into a working-class family and spent much of his youth helping support his household. Despite his young age, he balanced his education with work as a labourer and street vendor to contribute to family expenses. Those who knew him described him as responsible and hardworking.
On 8 January 2026, protests were taking place in Tehran amid wider unrest across Iran. During the demonstrations, security forces reportedly opened fire using live ammunition. Amir-Mohammad was struck by two bullets to the chest. After he went missing, his family spent several days searching for him across hospitals and detention centres. On 14 January, they discovered and identified his body at Shohada-ye Yaftabad Hospital in Tehran.
Following the identification of his body, relatives transported him to Bon Lar village in Mamulan County, Lorestan Province, where his funeral and burial were held. His death was later documented by human-rights organizations as one of the many cases involving minors killed during the protest crackdown.
