Amir Hossein Saeedi was killed during the January 2026 anti-government protests in Tehran. He was shot by security forces amid a crackdown on demonstrators near Pirouzi Street.
According to information published by the Iran Human Rights NGO (IHRNGO), Amir Hossein was shot at approximately 10:00 PM on January 9, 2026, near the Soleimaniyeh gas station on Pirouzi Street in Tehran.
A bullet struck below his lip, entered through his face, and exited through the back of his head. He was transported by his father to Fajr Hospital, where he later died that night.
The burial permit reportedly listed the cause of death as “impact of high-velocity projectile objects to the body.”
Biography
Amir Hossein Saeedi, born on May 11, 2006, was a 19-year-old computer engineering student from Tehran. During the January 2026 protests, he joined demonstrations despite recently recovering from illness. On January 9, he was shot in the face by security forces near Pirouzi Street and died later that night at Fajr Hospital. His final words to his father were reportedly, “Dad, I want to fly.” Following his death, his family allegedly faced pressure and threats to publicly declare him a Basij “martyr” and remain silent about the circumstances of his killing.
Amir Hossein Saeedi was born on May 11, 2006. He was studying computer engineering and was described by those close to him as determined and passionate. Despite his father’s request that he stay home due to increasing violence and his recent illness, he chose to join the protests sweeping Tehran in early January 2026.
On January 9, around 10:00 PM, he was shot near the Soleimaniyeh gas station on Pirouzi Street. According to a source cited by Iran Human Rights NGO, security forces opened fire and he was struck in the face. His father carried him into a nearby house seeking help, but security personnel reportedly entered the house. Eventually, his father transported him to Fajr Hospital, where he died later that night.
After his death, hospital records reportedly initially listed him as “unidentified.” His body was later transferred and ultimately buried at Behesht-e Zahra.
Sources state that following the burial, members of the local Basij, representatives of the Governor’s Office, and officials linked to the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs visited the family and allegedly pressured them to declare him a Basij “martyr.”
