Biography

Amir (Hamid) Moslemi was a 61-year-old resident of Fardis, Karaj. Formerly a poultry seller, he was unemployed at the time of his death and lived on his mother’s pension. He had been a dedicated member of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) for approximately 20 years and was reportedly respected within the recovery community for helping many individuals maintain sobriety. On January 9, 2026, he was shot in the chest during unrest in Fardis and died the next day in hospital due to severe bleeding

Amir Moslemi, also known as Hamid Moslemi, was born around 1964–1965. He previously worked as a poultry seller but was unemployed at the time of his death. Despite financial hardship, he remained active in community recovery efforts.

He had been a member of Narcotics Anonymous for about two decades, a significant commitment in Iran, where addiction recovery communities play a vital social role. According to relatives, he was instrumental in supporting others in achieving and maintaining sobriety, making him a respected figure within his local NA network.

On January 9, 2026, during protests and heightened security operations in Fardis, he was reportedly shot from a rooftop position while on the city’s main boulevard. He was transferred to a hospital in Karaj, where he died on January 10 due to severe bleeding.

His body was initially set to be buried at Bibi Sakineh cemetery in Karaj but was ultimately buried in Section 34 of Behesht-e Zahra in Tehran on January 12, 2026, at the family’s request. The Martyr Foundation later reportedly contacted the family to register him officially as a “Martyr,” which the family declined.
