Their life

Amal Jamil Al-Qulaq, 34, was a Palestinian woman from Gaza. She lived with her extended family on al-Wehda Street, Gaza City, an area that was heavily targeted during the Israeli airstrikes in May 2021. Amal was part of the well-known al-Qulaq family, which suffered one of the deadliest collective tragedies of the war, losing multiple generations in a single night.

Born in Gaza in 1987, Amal grew up amid the hardships of life under blockade and repeated assaults. Like many in Gaza, her life was marked by resilience and dedication to her family. On May 16, 2021, she was among the many members of the al-Qulaq family killed when Israeli warplanes bombed residential homes on al-Wehda Street without prior warning. Thirteen members of her family, spanning from infants to elders, were killed in the same strike. Amal’s death represents the multigenerational devastation inflicted upon Palestinian families during the offensive.

Amal was killed on May 16, 2021, when Israeli warplanes launched a barrage of airstrikes on al-Wehda Street in Gaza City. The missiles struck residential buildings in the middle of the night, collapsing them on families who were sheltering inside. Amal’s body, along with those of her relatives, was recovered from beneath the rubble by medical and civil defense crews after hours of rescue efforts. The attack killed at least 43 civilians in the neighborhood, most of them women and children, and wiped out entire families, including Amal’s.
