A motorcyclist was being pursued by a Webster Parish sheriff's deputy around 10 p.m. on a highway and turned off his headlight. The deputy called off the pursuit after losing sight of the motorcycle. A short time later, another motorist reported a crash. Police said the motorcyclist, Alvis Cyrus III, lost control in a curve and crashed and was killed.
