Biography
Alireza Tavakkoli was a 19-year-old Iranian protester, originally from Isfahan, who was living in Lahijan, Gilan Province, at the time of his death. Like many young Iranians, he had moved away from his hometown for work or study while maintaining close family ties. On the evening of January 8, he was shot in the head by Islamic Republic security forces during protests in Lahijan and later died from his injuries. He would have turned 20 years old on January 29.
Alireza was described by people close to him as friendly, sociable, and well-liked. He had a strong passion for cooking and was known among friends for his warmth and enthusiasm. Originally from the historic city of Isfahan, he had relocated to Lahijan, a northern city near the Caspian Sea, reflecting a common pattern among young Iranians seeking opportunity while remaining connected to their families.
