Officer Terry Edge, responding to a hit-and-run call, followed a fluid trail to a black Pontiac Grand Ann and a gold two-door other driven by Peschard. Peschard started sweating and scratching himself. He told Officer Edge that he was having an allergic reaction to his medication. Paramedics responded. Officer Edge restrained Peschard first for paramedics, then for West Texas Community Hospital staff. Peschard died of a methamphetamine overdose.
