Hernandez answered the door with what appeared to be a gun when police arrived at his home in response to a 911 call, according to police. Hernandez followed the officers out of the apartment building, continuing to point his gun and ignoring commands to drop it before he was shot and killed by officers Jeffrey McCoy, Jonathan Wells and Brandon Lull, police said. Police later said that the gun was a replica and not an actual firearm.
