New York City police conducted an early-morning no-knock SWAT-style raid on Spruill's apartment, based on bad information provided by a drug dealer, and in pursuit of a suspect who was already in custody. The shock of the raid caused the long-time city employee to have a fatal heart attack on the way to the hospital. The city paid her family $1.6M.
This record exists so that Alberta Spruill, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
