Alan J. Port died from injuries sustained 10 days earlier in a crash with a police car driven by officer Ron Roy, 33, who police said was responding to a call. Port was driving a 1998 Honda Civic east on Enterprise when he pulled onto Ninth and was hit by Roy's northbound car at 11:12 p.m. Roy's car then hit a utility pole, shearing off the bottom five feet and knocking out power. In 2004, the city council approved a $1.1 million settlement.
