Alaa al-Din Muhammad Zuhair Asraf

Alaa al-Din Muhammad Zuhair Asraf was a 15-year-old Palestinian boy from the southern Gaza Strip who lived through the prolonged war, displacement, and insecurity that marked daily life in Gaza following Israel’s military campaign and the ceasefire that came into effect on October 10, 2025. Like many children in Gaza, Alaa al-Din grew up under conditions of fear, restricted movement, and repeated exposure to violence, even in areas that were formally designated as withdrawn or calm under ceasefire terms.

He was in the Jura al-Lut area south of Khan Yunis, a zone from which Israeli forces had reportedly withdrawn under the ceasefire agreement, when he was shot and killed. His death highlights the continued risks faced by Palestinian civilians—particularly children—despite the declared truce. Alaa al-Din’s killing became one of several incidents reported that day, underscoring how the ceasefire failed to provide effective protection for civilians in Gaza.

His life was cut short at an age when he should have been focused on education, family, and childhood, instead becoming another young victim of ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip.
