Al-Nour Suleiman Al-Nour was seriously wounded when a drone strike hit his home in El Fasher on October 3, 2025. He was transported to the Saudi Hospital but died on October 4 due to the severity of his injuries. Multiple organizations, including the Committee For Justice and the Committee to Protect Journalists, reported that the strike was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Rights groups described the attack as part of a systematic pattern of targeting journalists in Sudan.
Biography
Al-Nour Suleiman Al-Nour was a Sudanese journalist, radio presenter, and editor based in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State. He worked with local radio stations, including El Fasher State Radio, and was regarded as one of the city’s most prominent media voices. On October 4, 2025, he died from severe injuries sustained in a drone strike that hit his home in El Fasher, reportedly carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). His killing was widely condemned by UNESCO, press freedom organizations, and human rights groups as part of a broader pattern of systematic attacks on journalists in Sudan’s ongoing war.
Al-Nour Suleiman Al-Nour was an experienced Sudanese journalist who worked as a presenter and editor at El Fasher Radio, and previously as a correspondent and presenter for other local radio outlets, including Al-Salam Radio. In addition to his journalism work, he also served as media director for the North Darfur state governor’s office, according to local and international reporting.
Operating in El Fasher during an intense siege, Al-Nour continued to inform the public despite severe shortages of food, medical services, communications, and safe shelter. Colleagues described him as a key and trusted media figure in the city, known for his dedication to public service journalism under extreme conditions.
On October 3, 2025, a drone strike hit his residence in El Fasher. He was critically wounded and taken to the Saudi Hospital, the only functioning medical facility in the city. He succumbed to his injuries the following day, October 4, 2025. His death was later confirmed by UNESCO, the Committee to Protect Journalists, and Sudanese and international rights organizations. He was the sixth journalist killed in Sudan in 2025, according to UNESCO.
