Biography

Ahmad Ziyad Hussein Sabbah, 28, was a Palestinian from Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip. On May 17, 2021, he was killed when an Israeli drone fired a missile at a group of civilians in central Beit Lahia. The strike also killed 18-year-old Mohammed Nazeer Mohammed Abu ‘Oun and injured two others, one critically. His death came during the ninth day of Israel’s large-scale offensive on Gaza, which targeted homes, civilian facilities, and infrastructure, killing hundreds and injuring thousands.

Ahmad Ziyad Hussein Sabbah was a 28-year-old resident of Beit Lahia, a northern Gaza town that endured heavy bombardment during the May 2021 Israeli offensive. On the evening of May 17, an Israeli drone targeted a group of civilians in central Beit Lahia, killing Ahmad and a younger man, 18-year-old Mohammed Nazeer Mohammed Abu ‘Oun, and wounding two others. This attack took place just minutes after Israeli warplanes had completely destroyed the home of Ayman Siyam in nearby Jabalia camp with four missiles. The day marked one of the deadliest phases of the offensive, with Israeli forces killing at least ten Palestinians, including a woman and a child, and injuring 122, many critically. The bombardments not only hit homes but also damaged civilian infrastructure, including the only Covid-19 testing laboratory in Gaza, medical clinics, and other public facilities. Ahmad’s death was part of a relentless military campaign that, by that time, had claimed over 200 Palestinian lives and displaced thousands.
