
Ahmad Rami Mahmoud al-Hawajri, 15, was a resident of the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. On May 13, 2021, while returning home from a grocery store, he was killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential building in the heart of the densely populated camp. Ahmad was struck in the head by shrapnel and suffered severe burns over his body. He was one of 36 Palestinians killed in Gaza during the Israeli airstrikes on that day.

Ahmad’s death occurred amid a broader Israeli bombardment that targeted homes, apartment towers, and infrastructure throughout Gaza, killing dozens, including entire families, women, and children, and injuring hundreds more. The attacks left many homes in rubble, including shelters for civilians. Ahmad’s life was tragically cut short in the midst of these hostilities.
