Ahmad Mohammad Al-Nader

Ahmad Mohammad Al-Mansi al-Nader, aged 32, was a resident of the northern Gaza Strip and part of a large extended family rooted in the area. On May 14, 2021, he was with his cousin, Ahmad Awad al-Nader, 36, when Israeli warplanes targeted agricultural land in Beit Lahia. Both were struck by the missiles and killed instantly. Rescue crews from the Palestinian Civil Defense retrieved their bodies, which were transported to the Indonesia Hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

Ahmad’s killing came during one of the deadliest nights of the 11-day escalation in Gaza. That evening, Israel’s air force launched a series of devastating strikes across the north, including 15 missiles that destroyed the Abdulrazaq Glebo Mosque in Beit Lahia, and another strike that killed three members of the Al-Mansi family and their neighbor outside the mosque. Throughout the night, multiple families were annihilated in their homes as entire residential blocks collapsed under heavy bombardment. In total, 39 Palestinians were killed that night, including 13 women and 14 children, while more than 220 were wounded.

Ahmad’s life was cut short in the midst of overwhelming violence that saw Gaza’s infrastructure shattered, with homes, streets, schools, and mosques destroyed. He and his cousin became two among hundreds of victims of the May 2021 war, remembered by their family and community as innocent civilians taken by indiscriminate attacks that international human rights organizations have described as violations of international law.
