Biography

Ahmad al-Louh, a 39-year-old Palestinian cameraman for Al-Jazeera, was a dedicated journalist known for his courage and commitment to covering life under war in Gaza. For years, he documented the aftermath of airstrikes and the struggles of civilians, providing footage to international audiences who rarely saw the human impact of the conflict firsthand. Despite the immense personal danger, he continued his work, driven by a deep sense of duty to reveal the truth. Tragically, he was killed on 15 December 2024 while filming at the Nuseirat refugee camp, just days after his own home was destroyed in a separate Israeli attack.

Born and raised in the Gaza Strip, Ahmad al-Louh built his career in journalism at a time when documenting the truth in Gaza carried grave risks. His work with Al-Jazeera made him a respected figure among his colleagues and the wider media community. Known for his calm presence and professionalism under pressure, he often filmed at scenes of destruction and rescue operations. His footage helped shed light on the humanitarian crises unfolding daily in the enclave. A few days before his death, the Israeli military bombed his home, leaving his family displaced. Despite that personal loss, Ahmad returned to the field, continuing to film rescue efforts until he was killed in another Israeli strike while reporting with the Palestinian Civil Defence in Nuseirat camp. His dedication symbolized the resilience of Gaza’s journalists who persist in telling their people’s story despite ongoing danger.
