At around 3 a.m., James Adam Trahan was shot and killed by deputy Tyler Broussard when Trahan allegedly shot deputy Conan Smith in the leg with a shotgun while struggling with Broussard. Deputies were answering a shots fired call. Broussard shot Trahan several times.
