Biography
Abolfazl Norouzi, 15, had left school to work in a mechanic’s shop to help support his family. Known among friends and relatives as kind, responsible, and eager to help, he had planned to resume his studies through evening classes and dreamed of buying a motorcycle with his earnings. His life was tragically cut short by a gunshot during protests in Mashhad, and his family faced pressure from authorities to misrepresent his identity.
Abolfazl Norouzi grew up in Mashhad and, like many teens, carried responsibilities beyond his age. He had left formal schooling to work in a mechanic’s shop and support his household, yet he remained ambitious and hopeful, planning to return to school in evening classes. Tragically, during the unrest in early January 2026, he was shot and killed by security forces. Following his death, his family reported attempts by authorities to label him as a member of the IRGC’s Basij paramilitary forces, which they refused. They were also denied permission to hold a formal mosque ceremony, and mourning banners were removed from their home. Abolfazl’s friends and family remember him as a compassionate, responsible teenager whose aspirations and potential were violently cut short.
