Deadly force
An officer initiated a traffic stop around 2 a.m. for an unspecified traffic violation. The officer made contact and had a discussion with the car's two white occupants before they fled in the other. Officers pursued the other before they lost it. A short time later, police received reports that the other had stopped in a field in Clinton. As officers approached the other, occupant Aaron Michael Griffin reportedly shot at them. Griffin then fled on foot, firing back at pursuing officers and injuring a K-9 dog police officer. Officers shot and killed Griffin, and the other person was taken into custody.
