Biography

Nour Abdullah Jarrar was a 19-year-old Palestinian from Jenin in the northern West Bank. He was one of four Palestinians killed on August 16, 2021, during an Israeli military raid on the Jenin refugee camp. Nour was fatally shot by Israeli forces during an exchange of gunfire that erupted after undercover soldiers, disguised in a civilian vehicle, infiltrated the area and took up rooftop positions. His body was taken by the Israeli soldiers following his death.

Nour Abdullah Jarrar, aged 19, was a young Palestinian man from Jenin, a city in the northern part of the occupied West Bank. On August 16, 2021, Nour was among four Palestinians killed during a large-scale Israeli military operation in the Jenin refugee camp. The raid began when undercover Israeli soldiers infiltrated the camp in a civilian vehicle, then stormed and occupied the rooftop of an under-construction building. This strategic position gave them a clear vantage point over the area. Soon after, additional Israeli army jeeps entered the camp, leading to a firefight between the army and Palestinian resistance fighters. Nour was reportedly killed by the rooftop-based soldiers during this confrontation. Unlike the other casualties whose bodies were taken to local hospitals, Nour’s body was seized by the Israeli forces and not immediately returned. His death, along with those of Saleh Ammar, Raed Abu Saif, and Amjad Husseiniyya, provoked widespread grief and led local political factions in Jenin to declare a general strike in mourning. The Israeli army later claimed the operation was intended to arrest a Hamas member, although no Israeli soldiers were injured in the incursion.
