Mahmoud Hmeidan was killed on September 26, 2021, during a large-scale Israeli military operation targeting alleged Hamas members across the occupied West Bank. The Israeli army deployed special forces, including the Duvdevan unit, and engaged in armed confrontations with Palestinian resistance fighters. Mahmoud was in the Ein Ajeeb area near Beit Anan when undercover Israeli soldiers surrounded a small concrete room where he and others were sleeping. Eyewitnesses reported that the soldiers fired a small explosive shell at the room and later removed bodies from the site. Mahmoud was among the three Palestinians killed in the assault, which was described by local sources as an assassination.

Mahmoud Mustafa Hmeidan, 27, was a Palestinian resident of Beit Anan town, located northwest of occupied Jerusalem. He had recently been released from Israeli prison after spending seven years incarcerated. During his imprisonment in the Negev Israeli detention camp, Mahmoud earned a Bachelor's Degree and was preparing to pursue a Master’s Degree at Al-Quds Open University. Known for his determination and educational aspirations, Mahmoud was just beginning to rebuild his life when he was tragically killed by Israeli forces less than two months after his release. His death came amid a large-scale Israeli military operation in the West Bank targeting alleged members of Hamas.
