He lived with his family, which had already experienced the hardships of political conflict—his father was a former political prisoner who spent twelve years in Israeli detention. Described by family members as a normal teenager, Mohammad went missing shortly after midnight on December 6, 2021. His disappearance led to a desperate search by his family, which tragically ended when they recognized his vehicle in photos circulating online, showing it crashed into a military roadblock near Tulkarem.

Born and raised in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, Mohammad Nidal Younis was only 15 years old at the time of his death. He was a resident of the Namsawi neighborhood and came from a family with a personal history of political struggle—his father had previously spent over a decade in Israeli prisons. On the night of December 6, 2021, Mohammad left home and was reported missing by his family.
