Their life

Amjad Waleed al-Fayed was a 17-year-old Palestinian teenager from the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank. He was part of a family affected by repeated violence, being the nephew of Amjad and Mohammad al-Fayed, who were killed during the Israeli offensive in Jenin in April 2002.

On May 22, 2022, during an Israeli army incursion into the Jenin refugee camp, Amjad was shot and killed. The invasion involved several army jeeps and sparked protests from local residents. The soldiers fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs at the protesters. Medical sources reported that Amjad was hit by nearly eleven live rounds in the upper body. The Israeli military claimed the shooting occurred amid exchanges of fire during the raid. Following his death, hundreds of Palestinians held funeral processions and protests throughout Jenin refugee camp, the city of Jenin, and nearby villages, demonstrating resistance against the occupation.

How they died

Amjad was killed by multiple gunshot wounds from live rounds fired by Israeli soldiers during a military raid on the Jenin refugee camp.

Amjad Waleed al-Fayed died after being struck by approximately eleven live bullets fired by Israeli soldiers during a large-scale military operation in the Jenin refugee camp. The incursion involved multiple army jeeps entering the densely populated camp, which quickly escalated tensions and sparked protests among residents. During the raid, soldiers opened fire on Palestinians, using a combination of live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear gas to suppress the unrest. Amjad was hit predominantly in his upper body, receiving multiple gunshot wounds that caused critical injuries. Despite being rushed to a hospital, the severity and number of the gunshot wounds led to his death. The Israeli army claimed that the shooting occurred amid an exchange of fire between soldiers and Palestinians during the raid, though local witnesses and family members assert that Amjad was not involved in any armed conflict at the time.
