Ghofran was shot in the left side of her chest with a live bullet by Israeli soldiers stationed at a military post near the al-‘Arroub refugee camp. The bullet entered under her armpit, pierced her heart, and exited from the right side of her chest. Medical personnel were prevented from reaching her for approximately twenty minutes, which led to her bleeding to death at the scene before doctors could attempt life-saving measures at Al-Ahli Hospital. Biography
Ghofran Haroun Warasna, 31, was a Palestinian journalist from Shiokh al-Arroub village, northeast of Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank. A graduate of Hebron University in media and journalism, she was passionate about documenting Israeli violations and had recently started a new position at Dream Radio in Hebron. She worked with three local radio stations and was known for her commitment to truthful reporting. On the morning of June 1, 2022, she was fatally shot by Israeli soldiers near the al-‘Arroub refugee camp as she walked to her new job.
