Abdel Rahman Jom’ah Khalaf al-Silik, 22, was a Palestinian civilian from the Shuja’iyya neighborhood in Gaza City. He owned a shoe shop in the al-Shati refugee camp and was returning from work when he was killed by an Israeli airstrike on August 7, 2022.
Abdel Rahman Jom’ah Khalaf al-Silik was a 22-year-old resident of the densely populated Shuja’iyya neighborhood in the eastern part of Gaza City. Known locally for his small shoe shop in al-Shati refugee camp, Abdel Rahman was working to build a modest life amid hardship and conflict. On the day of his death, he had just closed his store and was returning home in a taxi when an Israeli missile struck nearby during one of the final waves of airstrikes preceding the ceasefire on August 7, 2022. Abdel Rahman was not engaged in any militant activity; he was simply a young entrepreneur navigating daily life in an area frequently targeted by military operations.
