Grant was shot eight times as a burglary suspect although witnesses asserted his appearance and behavior didn't match that narrative. Grant was killed within nine hours of another police victim, Clarence Edward Stewart. Both cases were reviewed by the FBI and part of a county pattern of, in the words of the county police chief, "brutality and misconduct."
