An unmarked police car struck Rodriguez in the streets of Washington Heights, leaving him in a coma for two weeks before his death. Witness accounts did not square up with the police narrative, and people in the neighborhood were unhappy with police, among other things, apparently coming to dig up dirt about their victim.
