Officer Debra Prososki followed Dale Stokes' pickup truck shortly after midnight, suspecting drunken driving. Prososki said she turned on her overhead lights, then turned them off after a few seconds. Stokes accelerated and collided with another other. Stokes was killed and three others were injured.
