A Wyoming officer started chasing Michael Van Der Kolk's 2001 Honda at about 1:35 a.m. after he allegedly ran a red light. Grandville and Walker officers joined the pursuit, which reportedly reached speeds of up to 100 mph. After nine miles, Van Der Kolk crashed his car into a ditch and was thrown from the other. He died later at a hospital.
