Laurie Gay Schell was killed when she ran off U.S. 50 in Loudoun County and crashed into a tree as she was being chased by a Loudoun deputy sheriff. Police said the chase began moments earlier on state Route 606 when Schell crossed into the deputy's lane, forcing him to swerve to avoid a collision. Alcohol was a factor in the crash.
