Parole officers arrived at the apartment to arrest the man for an undisclosed parole violation. As they approached his apartment, the man fired shots, and the officers retreat ed and called for help. After several hours of standoff, police went into the house and found Gentzler dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
