Macklin, whose extensive criminal record began at 14, was driving a stolen 1999 Lincoln after a Martin Luther King Day parade. Undercover police "swarmed" the other and one, on the Lincoln's hood, fatally shot the unarmed Macklin through the windshield. A minor disturbance kicked up immediately after the shooting, with people throwing rocks and bottles, that took 75 officers to quell.
