Officers responded to a call that Baralla was lunging toward passing cars at the intersection of Routt Avenue and Polk Street. Witnesses gave conflicting accounts about the amount of force used by police on Baralla. He had been handcuffed, pepper-sprayed and shocked twice with a taser, according to police. He was dead on arrival at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center.
