Johnnie L. Blackman Jr. died after trying to flee from police and crashing into a church. A passenger in the car was injured in the crash. According to police, an officer saw Blackman pull out of one parking lot, drive down a street and pull into another parking lot without his headlights on at about 10:30 p.m. The officer stopped to ask why Blackman was driving without lights, and allegedly saw him try to hide a plastic bag later found to contain cocaine.
