Las Vegas police officer, in plainclothes and in an undercover police other, followed a stolen car into the parking lot of the Nevada Palace casino. The driver of the stolen car, Edward William Cook, was being followed in another other by his wife, and the two were communicating with radios. Cook suspected he was being followed and stopped in the parking lot. He got out, walked to the officer's car and pointed a gun at him. The officer fired his gun through the windshield, killing Cook.
