A deputy tried to stop a car driven by Loren Rockwell, who was suspected of drunken driving, at about 9:30 p.m., but he allegedly refused to pull over and increased his speed. Rockwell reportedly ran a stop sign and crashed into a freight train at a crossing south of Prairie Grove Street. Rockwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
