He just happened to die while he had handcuffs and leg irons on, a local detective said of Espinoza. Restrained after a domestic disturbance call and a fight with police, Espinoza had some kind of medical crisis, vomited, and died in custody before paramedics arrived. His behavior suggested a drug overdose, although whether it actually was a drug overdose was never apparently reported.
