Juan Gonzalez was killed when off-duty officer, John Krass, 28, ran a red light and hit Gonzalez's car while driving under the influence. According to reports, Kass' BAC was more than twice the legal limit. According to prosecutors, Krass sideswiped a CTA bus before the fatal collision, though Krass claimed to have no recollection of hitting the bus. Krass was convicted of reckless homicide and two counts of aggravated DUI.
