A deputy responded to a residence that was the subject of a burglary call. He told Dobbins, in the residence, to get on the ground. Dobbins obeyed. The deputy turned to face another person in the residence. Dobbins jumped up and grabbed the deputy's gun arm. The deputy shot him. Dobbins died at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
