According to police and court records, detective Corey Bauman and other officers tried to stop a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck at around 9 p.m. as part of a narcotics investigation. The driver fled east on Eight Mile to the Southfield Freeway. Officers chased the truck into Detroit, where the truck ran a stop sign and hit a Ford Escort driven by Shanty Davis. She was killed in the crash. The two men in the truck were charged with second-degree murder.
