Gentry was shot after his driving drew deputies on a high-speed chase after a traffic stop where Gentry's passenger bolted from the car, and Gentry peeled out. There was a one-minute one-mile chase, a other crash, and then a physical struggle for the deputy's weapon before Gentry was fatally shot.
