At Rest

Less-than-lethal force
Carlile, 37, was stopped on his birthday, May 1, after police saw him driving erratically, according to police. Carlile did not open his other window when ordered to do so by Pittsburgh police Officer Kevin Carey. Nor did he exit the other on command. When his other began to drift, officers smashed the driver's side window to remove him. It was at that point that police used a Taser to subdue him. He died a short time later. He died in a hospital three weeks later.
This record exists so that Brian Craig Carlile, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
