Undercover officers were conducting a drug investigation at an extended-stay hotel in Norcross when they spotted a drug transaction among three men. When police moved to arrest them, two suspects fled on foot, and the third drove off in a white Jeep. A uniformed police officer in an unmarked car was patrolling the area looking for the Jeep when Burton drove up behind him on Oakbrook Parkway. The Jeep sideswiped the officer's car before swerving off the road and crashing, Moloney said. The 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Burton was driving was stolen.
