How they died

Suicide

Police responded to the Faith Apartments on Moore Street shortly before 10 a.m. to a report that a woman had been shot by a man who then fled north along nearby railroad tracks. Lt. Robert Steele said he saw a man matching the description of the shooter duck from the railroad tracks into the bushes behind Max Paun Elementary School. "We repeatedly asked him to come out, telling him he was surrounded," Steele said. Police said they got no response from the man and weren't able to see him behind thick branches. According to police, they heard a single shot at about 10:15 a.m. and found the man dead under a crabapple tree.
