Deadly force

Wong was shot several times by officers with the Downey Police Department who were responding to reports of an armed man getting into a truck on the 9000 block Pico Vista Street. Officers arrived at the scene and tried to stop the fleeing suspect. After crashing his silver Toyota into a patrol car and exiting the other with what appeared to be a gun, the Downey patrol officers opened fire, striking Wong repeatedly. He was pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m. After his death, it was learned that Mr. Wong himself was the party who contacted the police; giving them a detailed description of his other, his own physical description and a description of his weapons.
