Anthony L. Jones was killed after his car crashed while he was fleeing from police. According to police, officers tried to stop Jones' Pontiac Grand Prix at about 11:30 p.m. for not having a license plate at Highway 40 and Sterling Avenue. The pursuit ended in Raytown when Jones lost control of his car. The Pontiac went over a brick wall, hit a basketball hoop and overturned, landing between two houses. Jones died at the scene.
